SUMMARY: Arsenal 2-0 Hull City

As ever when City travel down to Arsenal, luck, good fortune and favourable circumstances detour off the path and leave Hull City coming up short at the Emirates - and more often than not - through no fault of their own. Yet again, today was that day. Predictably beaten with a heavy helping of controversy along the way, ably assisted by the 'world's best referee' (ha!) Mark Clattenburg.

...and the world's best ref says it's NOT handball.

The bumpy ride always expected at Arsenal could've been different. But it wasn't. Lazar Markovic lashed a lush cross along the 6 yard box, but it was a stretch too far for Oumar Niasse to give the Tigers the lead. That came for the home team in massively debatable circumstances as Alexis Sanchez bundled the ball in with his hand, but you guessed it, astonishingly the goal stood on 34 minutes. Tough to take at the break.

City didn't whinge (perhaps we should be more like Arsenal and Wenger?) but instead put in a spirited performance to get back in the match. Despite good pressure, the goal wouldn't come - and when Markovic raced clear and was hauled down by the last man... of course it's only a yellow card. Jesus wept at this point. To compound the misery, Sam Clucas was sent off for handball on the line in injury time and Sanchez netted the resultant penalty. Pretty certain Wenger didn't see any of it and the referee patronised us with an apology.
