SUMMARY: Hull City 0-0 Reading

A hugely frustrating day for Hull City as fellow strugglers Reading came with a plan for a point and almost pinched the lot at the end. Although far from a satisfying day for the Tigers, as another opportunity to claim a maximum went begging, everyone else in and around Hull City lost, meaning Nigel Adkins' side inch one point further away from the relegation places.

The game plan from Reading was blatant, but hardly surprising given the Royals have failed to win any of their previous 8 matches. City did look the more adventurous and thought they had claimed the lead when Toral netted. However, the effort was chalked off for an apparent kick out of the ex-Tiger keeper Mannone's hand, to add to the host's frustrations.

With the match tied at the interval, the war of attrition continued upon the restart, with City creating much of the running but making heavy weather of decent scoring opportunities. Bowen saw his close range effort smothered by Mannone, while Larsson's free kick whistled past the base of the post. Yet, the Royals almost pinched it when Kermogant's deflected effort late on rolled wide of the upright.
