SUMMARY: Hull City 4-0 Queens Park Rangers

Hull City are not quite out of the Championship relegation woods just yet, but this 4-0 whupping of Queens Park Rangers will go a long way to retaining the Tigers' second tier status. Only five games remain, but the 7 point cushion from the drop zone - and an exceptional goal difference over their rivals - means manager Nigel Adkins is moving ever closer to achieving his initial task of keeping Hull City in this division.

Hoops hammered in Hull!

The first half was a relatively quiet affair, before exploding into life as first period ebbed away. It was Wilson who broke the deadlock on 42 minutes, when good work from Hernandez played in the winger, allowing the Liverpool loanee to fire in from an acute angle. And then, with the game deep into the fourth minute of first half stoppage time, Hernandez crashed a shot into the bar and the ball cannoned off the back of visiting keeper Smithies to give Hull City a healthy 2-0 lead at the interval.

A sluggish start from City was soon addressed. Wilson turned provider this time - and Grosicki's composed 62nd minute finish slid under Smithies to make it 3-0. Hernandez was finally rewarded for his efforts in the match when getting on the scoresheet in the 69th minute, tapping in a fine move, to put the Tigers into an unassailable 4-0 winning position. QPR's misery was complete when a late red card for violent conduct was dished out to Onuoha reducing the Hoops to 10 men.
