PREVIEW: Hull City v Sheffield Wednesday

An astonishing week in the life of the Tigers has all but sealed survival in the Championship barring those pesky mathematicians that only ever seem to appear at this stage of the football season. City needed at least two more wins from the remaining fixtures this time last week, to give themselves a sporting chance - and duly took the opportunity - quashing QPR 4-0 at home, then battering Burton 0-5 away. Some week... and it ain't over yet folks.

Derby day

All bar the shouting, the Tigers' are just about safe courtesy of some rich form, that has actually seen Nigel Adkins' side leapfrog this weekend's visitors Sheffield Wednesday in the table. Incredibly, the City boss has seen his team yield nine goals without reply in their last two matches - and even more remarkably - have done so making seven changes from each winning side. The same (bizarre?) formula is expected to be employed for the Owls' visit, Abel Hernandez and Jarrod Bowen among those hoping to profit with a starting place.

Sheffield Wednesday have veered from the sublime to the ridiculous as the season draws to a close. Three wins on the spin have been followed by two defeats in their last two outings - most recently a 3-0 thumping at QPR - who the Tigers walloped last weekend in their last home match. Problems are emerging in attack, with both Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao suffering knocks at Loftus Road meaning they could miss out, while Barry Bannan is also another struggling to be fit for the fixture at the Circle.
