SUMMARY: Sheffield United 1-0 Hull City

Thankfully, the international break intervenes, to prevent Hull City from embarrassing themselves further in the Championship. Another lame performance from the Tigers ends in predictable defeat for the visitors, but there can be no excuse for the lack of quality or investment in this squad – and we all know who is to blame for that, don’t we? Right now, Hull City are officially bottom of the league.

The visitors got off to a steady start against Sheffield United, but it didn’t take long for the hosts to assert some authority. Under the cosh for much of the opening period, City laboured through the game. The Blades were guilty of missing two gilt-edged chances in the half, while the Tigers offered little if any threat going forward. Understandably, the visitors were happier with the 0-0 half time score.

The game ran into stalemate, with Sheffield United spurning more chances, while City actually fashioned one of their own, as Henriksen powered a header goalward that produced a fine save. But moments later, a dubious penalty was awarded to the hosts and McGoldrick netted on 70 minutes to break the deadlock. City, yet again, failing to offer any real threat, went on to duly lose the match.
