SUMMARY: Blackburn Rovers 3-0 Hull City

A bad day at the office for Hull City saw their 10 match unbeaten league run come to an abrupt halt, as in-form Blackburn Rovers punished the Tigers for their unaccustomed sluggishness and provided a lesson on how to finish with clinical efficiency.

Bad day at the office...

The visitors got off to a sterile start as Blackburn looked well up for the fight between the two in-form teams. Indeed, the hosts were ahead on 10 minutes when Armstrong netted the opener. Even that failed to trigger a response from the Tigers and they were punished again when Rodwell scored a shameful looking free header from a corner on 18 minutes. City struggled, lethargic and cumbersome in their play, offering a Grosicki freekick as a token gesture to grab a goal.

Hull City improved after the break, but still struggled to create any real goal-scoring chances from open play. With reliance on set pieces to claw their way back into the match, the game appeared gone. Come the 73rd minute - and largely against the run of play - Reed put the home side in an unassailable position to make it 3-0. The Tigers could have few complaints, it simply wasn't their day. To compound the misery for the visitors, Bowen hobbled off at the end, leaving City to finish the match with ten men.
