PREVIEW: Hull City v Stoke City

A blip? Or perhaps the bubble has finally burst? Hull City were brought crashing back down to earth last weekend with an unfamiliar lacklustre display that cost the Tigers any hope of points at in-form Blackburn Rovers. The reaction to that result makes for an intriguing fixture at home to Stoke this Saturday.

Nigel Adkins could only add one more player to his roster before the transfer window closed, bringing in experienced free-agent Liam Ridgwell to the club, after a spell training with the Tigers following his departure from MLS side Portland Timbers. However, Ridgwell is unlikely to start the game, while he becomes familiar with his new surroundings. Mark Pugh could make his home debut after joining from AFC Bournemouth last week. Ondrej Mazuch, Jordy de-Wijs and Reece Burke remain sidelined posing a problem for City's defence.

Stoke City manager Nathan Jones could hand a deadline day debut to new striker signing Sam Vokes, particularly as Peter Crouch went the other way to Burnley as part of the deal. Danny Batth may else be given a debut, but midfielder Charlie Adam remains sidelined with a calf injury.
