NEWS: The passing of Pete Skipper

This is not the kind of news you want to come home to, after (in our case) a very long day at work.

Pete Skipper RIP

Yet, the tragic news emerging from Hull City Football Club is the news that local lad and Tigers legend Pete Skipper has passed away at the age of 61 years.

Skipper was a hugely popular fans favourite enjoying two spells at the club. The first of which began in the late 70s before moving on to Darlington, before coming to real prominence when returning to his home town club in 1982 - a six year spell that forged himself into Tigers folklore.

The uncompromising defender became a stalwart at the heart of the City defence in the mid 80s and formed a near impenetrable defence with partner Richard Jobson amongst others. Skipper's crowning glory, being the promotion winning goal scored away at Walsall to take City back into (what is now) the Championship.

The club released a short statement to mark the passing on their official website, part of which read - "He will be sadly missed by everyone at Hull City, and our thoughts are very much with Pete’s family and friends at this time." CI would also like to second those sentiments.

RIP Skip.
